Reunion Planning

Be it Family or High School, no doubt about it, reunions can be a blast! And if you are lucky (or brave) enough to be involved with the planning, here are a few things you should know;
Where do you start?
·         Form a committee-this is definitely not a one man show. Reunion planning takes time and dedication. Get dependable people on your team to help carry the load.
·         Give yourself ample time-12-18 months will give you the time you need to ensure a great turn-out & event
·         Hire a professional- A professional event coordinator has the experience and talent to ensure that your event goes off without a hitch, all the while making you and your team look good! Besides, you want to enjoy the event too, right?

A few reunion Do’s & Don’ts
Reunion Do's

Do realize that upon entering the reunion, everyone is having the same apprehensions that you are. Smile and go with it!

Do resume old relationships without blaming each other for not calling or writing. You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll feel comfortable with old friends & family members. Furthermore, talk to people you didn't know very well, or have not yet met. You may find they're having an interesting life and end up with a new friend.
Reunion Don'ts

Don't count on romance Some people go to their High School reunion, hoping that the person they always had a crush on will still look great, happen to be single, and finally realize that they were meant for each other. Don’t hang your hopes on this scenario. Go with the intent to just have fun and reconnect!
Don't pass out your resume or open your sample case. These people are your classmates & family members, not potential customers.

But most importantly, RELAX & have a good time!

Wedding Myths

There are many wedding myths and superstitions, most are based on events or omens that are said to foretell either good luck or bad luck. Ironically, some myths have both positive and negative connotations. Like all superstitions wedding myths have no scientific basis… however, it never hurts to keep them in mind just in case!

Here are a few common wedding superstitions:

Wearing pearls

This is one of those wedding myths with both bad luck and good luck meanings. The ominous version of this myth holds that pearls represent future tears; thus wearing them will bring many tears and heartache in the marriage. The luckier version of this implies that the pearls take the place of the bride's real tears, thus she'll have a happy, tear-free wedding.

Sign your married name before the wedding

It is considered bad luck for the bride to sign her married name before the wedding as it tempts fate. For the same reason, the bride should avoid wearing her entire bridal outfit (wedding dress, bridal veil, shoes and jewelry) prior to her wedding day.

Dropping the wedding ring

This is another contradictory wedding myth. On the one hand, dropping the wedding ring during the wedding ceremony was seen as lucky as it would shake out evil spirits hiding in the ring. On the other hand, dropping the ring was considered the most ominous of events; whoever dropped the ring was said to be the first to die.

Rain on the wedding day
This is another good luck - bad luck wedding myth. In the good luck version, rain is said to foretell the coming of children just as rain promotes growth in the farmer's fields. In the unlucky version, rain drops represent the many tears a bride will cry throughout her marriage.

Eco-friendly Weddings

Want to incorporate one of this season’s latest trends into your wedding and at the same time do your part to help sustain the environment? Try incorporating a few of these eco-friendly tips into your design:
Wedding stationery- use recycled paper, or even electronic save-the-dates and rehearsal dinner invitations
Favors- opt for “green” or charitable wedding favors. For example, give guests locally harvested honey, candles, or locally grown flower seed packets
Your wedding flowers-invest in a florist who supports sustaining the earth’s resources. Here is one of our favorites:
The Spiraled Stem
Eco-friendly weddings, not only what’s in…it’s what’s right.

Wedding color of the year 2011

Hello Swanky Bride...

Engaged? Excited? Scared to death? Not to worry...we are here to help.

Planning a wedding can be exhausting, but can also be fun. But where to start? What we recommend to our brides is to first get a clear vision of what you want  your wedding to look like. What time of year is your favorite? Indoors or out? What about the time of day? And what about the design?

Well, this should help put you on the right track. Every year Pantone releases it's Color of the Year. And this year its...Honeysuckle. Which is actually a pretty pink, not a luscious yellow.
So, if you want to be ahead of the trend, plan to incorporate this color into your design...Happy planning!
